The Performance of Orlando is a 70-minute theatrical adaptation inspired by Virginia Woolf's novel Orlando: A Biography. Blending historical fiction, autobiography, and contemporary interpretation, the production explores themes of gender identity, feminism, selfhood, and English literary history through a layered, metatheatrical narrative. As the projection designer, I developed visual content that integrated both pre-recorded footage and real-time video feeds into the live performance. Rather than functioning as a backdrop, the projections acted as an additional narrative layer, offering perspectives beyond the audience's physical viewpoint and creating a dialogue between the stage, the performers, and the mediated image.

Working closely with the director and creative team, I designed projection sequences that supported the production's shifting timelines, identities, and narrative voices. The visual language moved fluidly between documentary-like imagery, performative footage, and live camera perspectives, reinforcing the play's exploration of transformation and multiplicity. By extending the stage beyond its physical boundaries, the projections allowed audiences to experience Orlando's journey through multiple viewpoints simultaneously. The project demonstrated how video can function not only as a visual element but as an active storytelling device within contemporary theater, deepening both narrative complexity and audience engagement.
